Walkitabi almubeen

Sahih International

By the clear Book,

Pickthall

By the Scripture that maketh plain

Yusuf Ali

By the Book that makes things clear;-

44:3

Transliteration

Inna anzalnahu fee laylatin mubarakatininna kunna munthireen

Sahih International

Indeed, We sent it down during a blessed night. Indeed, We were to warn [mankind].

Pickthall

Lo! We revealed it on a blessed night - Lo! We are ever warning -

Yusuf Ali

We sent it down during a Blessed Night: for We (ever) wish to warn (against Evil).

44:4

Transliteration

Feeha yufraqu kullu amrin hakeem

Sahih International

On that night is made distinct every precise matter -

Pickthall

Whereon every wise command is made clear

Yusuf Ali

In the (Night) is made distinct every affair of wisdom,

44:5

Transliteration

Amran min AAindina inna kunnamursileen

Sahih International

[Every] matter [proceeding] from Us. Indeed, We were to send [a messenger]

Pickthall

As a command from Our presence - Lo! We are ever sending -

Yusuf Ali

By command, from Our Presence. For We (ever) send (revelations),

44:6

Transliteration

Rahmatan min rabbika innahu huwa assameeAAualAAaleem

Sahih International

As mercy from your Lord. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

Pickthall

A mercy from thy Lord. Lo! He, even He is the Hearer, the Knower,

Yusuf Ali

As Mercy from thy Lord: for He hears and knows (all things);

44:7

Transliteration

Rabbi assamawati wal-ardiwama baynahuma in kuntum mooqineen

Sahih International

Lord of the heavens and the earth and that between them, if you would be certain.

Pickthall

Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if ye would be sure.

Yusuf Ali

The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all between them, if ye (but) have an assured faith.

44:8

Transliteration

La ilaha illa huwa yuhyeewayumeetu rabbukum warabbu aba-ikumu al-awwaleen

Sahih International

There is no deity except Him; He gives life and causes death. [He is] your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers.

Pickthall

There is no Allah save Him. He quickeneth and giveth death; your Lord and Lord of your forefathers.

Yusuf Ali

There is no god but He: It is He Who gives life and gives death,- The Lord and Cherisher to you and your earliest ancestors.

44:9

Transliteration

Bal hum fee shakkin yalAAaboon

Sahih International

But they are in doubt, amusing themselves.

Pickthall

Nay, but they play in doubt.

Yusuf Ali

Yet they play about in doubt.

44:10

Transliteration

Fartaqib yawma ta/tee assamaobidukhanin mubeen

Sahih International

Then watch for the Day when the sky will bring a visible smoke.

Pickthall

But watch thou (O Muhammad) for the day when the sky will produce visible smoke

Yusuf Ali

Then watch thou for the Day that the sky will bring forth a kind of smoke (or mist) plainly visible,

44:11

Transliteration

Yaghsha annasa hathaAAathabun aleem

Sahih International

Covering the people; this is a painful torment.

Pickthall

That will envelop the people. This will be a painful torment.

Yusuf Ali

Enveloping the people: this will be a Penalty Grievous.

44:12

Transliteration

Rabbana ikshif AAanna alAAathabainna mu/minoon

Sahih International

[They will say], "Our Lord, remove from us the torment; indeed, we are believers."

Pickthall

(Then they will say): Our Lord relieve us of the torment. Lo! we are believers.

Yusuf Ali

(They will say:) "Our Lord! remove the Penalty from us, for we do really believe!"

44:13

Transliteration

Anna lahumu aththikrawaqad jaahum rasoolun mubeen

Sahih International

How will there be for them a reminder [at that time]? And there had come to them a clear Messenger.

Pickthall

How can there be remembrance for them, when a messenger making plain (the Truth) had already come unto them,

Yusuf Ali

How shall the message be (effectual) for them, seeing that an Messenger explaining things clearly has (already) come to them,-

44:14

Transliteration

Thumma tawallaw AAanhu waqaloomuAAallamun majnoon

Sahih International

Then they turned away from him and said, "[He was] taught [and is] a madman."

Pickthall

And they had turned away from him and said: One taught (by others), a madman?

Yusuf Ali

Yet they turn away from him and say: "Tutored (by others), a man possessed!"

44:15

Transliteration

Inna kashifoo alAAathabiqaleelan innakum AAa-idoon

Sahih International

Indeed, We will remove the torment for a little. Indeed, you [disbelievers] will return [to disbelief].

Pickthall

Lo! We withdraw the torment a little. Lo! ye return (to disbelief).

Yusuf Ali

We shall indeed remove the Penalty for a while, (but) truly ye will revert (to your ways).

44:16

Transliteration

Yawma nabtishu albatshataalkubra inna muntaqimoon

Sahih International

The Day We will strike with the greatest assault, indeed, We will take retribution.

Pickthall

On the day when We shall seize them with the greater seizure, (then) in truth We shall punish.

Yusuf Ali

One day We shall seize you with a mighty onslaught: We will indeed (then) exact Retribution!

44:17

Transliteration

Walaqad fatanna qablahum qawmafirAAawna wajaahum rasoolun kareem

Sahih International

And We had already tried before them the people of Pharaoh, and there came to them a noble messenger,

Pickthall

And verily We tried before them Pharaoh's folk, when there came unto them a noble messenger,

Yusuf Ali

We did, before them, try the people of Pharaoh: there came to them a messenger most honourable,

44:18

Transliteration

An addoo ilayya AAibada Allahiinnee lakum rasoolun ameen

Sahih International

[Saying], "Render to me the servants of Allah . Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger,"

Pickthall

Saying: Give up to me the slaves of Allah. Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you.

Yusuf Ali

Saying: "Restore to me the Servants of Allah: I am to you an messenger worthy of all trust;

44:19

Transliteration

Waan la taAAloo AAala Allahiinnee ateekum bisultanin mubeen

Sahih International

And [saying], "Be not haughty with Allah . Indeed, I have come to you with clear authority.

Pickthall

And saying: Be not proud against Allah. Lo! I bring you a clear warrant.

Yusuf Ali

"And be not arrogant as against Allah: for I come to you with authority manifest.

44:20

Transliteration

Wa-innee AAuthtu birabbee warabbikuman tarjumoon

Sahih International

And indeed, I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you stone me.

Pickthall

And lo! I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord lest ye stone me to death.

Yusuf Ali

"For me, I have sought safety with my Lord and your Lord, against your injuring me.

44:21

Transliteration

Wa-in lam tu/minoo lee faAAtaziloon

Sahih International

But if you do not believe me, then leave me alone."

Pickthall

And if ye put no faith in me, then let me go.

Yusuf Ali

"If ye believe me not, at least keep yourselves away from me."

44:22

Transliteration

FadaAAa rabbahu anna haola-iqawmun mujrimoon

Sahih International

And [finally] he called to his Lord that these were a criminal people.

Pickthall

And he cried unto his Lord, (saying): These are guilty folk.

Yusuf Ali

(But they were aggressive:) then he cried to his Lord: "These are indeed a people given to sin."

44:23

Transliteration

Faasri biAAibadee laylan innakummuttabaAAoon

Sahih International

[ Allah said], "Then set out with My servants by night. Indeed, you are to be pursued.

Pickthall

Then (his Lord commanded): Take away My slaves by night. Lo! ye will be followed,

Yusuf Ali

(The reply came:) "March forth with My Servants by night: for ye are sure to be pursued.

44:24

Transliteration

Watruki albahra rahwaninnahum jundun mughraqoon

Sahih International

And leave the sea in stillness. Indeed, they are an army to be drowned."

Pickthall

And leave the sea behind at rest, for lo! they are a drowned host.

Yusuf Ali

"And leave the sea as a furrow (divided): for they are a host (destined) to be drowned."

44:25

Transliteration

Kam tarakoo min jannatin waAAuyoon

Sahih International

How much they left behind of gardens and springs

Pickthall

How many were the gardens and the watersprings that they left behind,

Yusuf Ali

How many were the gardens and springs they left behind,

44:26

Transliteration

WazurooAAin wamaqamin kareem

Sahih International

And crops and noble sites

Pickthall

And the cornlands and the goodly sites

Yusuf Ali

And corn-fields and noble buildings,

44:27

Transliteration

WanaAAmatin kanoo feeha fakiheen

Sahih International

And comfort wherein they were amused.

Pickthall

And pleasant things wherein they took delight!

Yusuf Ali

And wealth (and conveniences of life), wherein they had taken such delight!

44:28

Transliteration

Kathalika waawrathnahaqawman akhareen

Sahih International

Thus. And We caused to inherit it another people.

Pickthall

Even so (it was), and We made it an inheritance for other folk;

Yusuf Ali

Thus (was their end)! And We made other people inherit (those things)!

44:29

Transliteration

Fama bakat AAalayhimu assamaowal-ardu wama kanoo munthareen

Sahih International

And the heaven and earth wept not for them, nor were they reprieved.

Pickthall

And the heaven and the earth wept not for them, nor were they reprieved.

Yusuf Ali

And neither heaven nor earth shed a tear over them: nor were they given a respite (again).

44:30

Transliteration

Walaqad najjayna banee isra-eelamina alAAathabi almuheen

Sahih International

And We certainly saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment -

Pickthall

And We delivered the Children of Israel from the shameful doom;

Yusuf Ali

We did deliver aforetime the Children of Israel from humiliating Punishment,

44:31

Transliteration

Min firAAawna innahu kana AAaliyanmina almusrifeen

Sahih International

From Pharaoh. Indeed, he was a haughty one among the transgressors.

Pickthall

(We delivered them) from Pharaoh. Lo! he was a tyrant of the wanton ones.

Yusuf Ali

Inflicted by Pharaoh, for he was arrogant (even) among inordinate transgressors.

44:32

Transliteration

Walaqadi ikhtarnahum AAalaAAilmin AAala alAAalameen

Sahih International

And We certainly chose them by knowledge over [all] the worlds.

Pickthall

And We chose them, purposely, above (all) creatures.

Yusuf Ali

And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly,

44:33

Transliteration

Waataynahum mina al-ayatima feehi balaon mubeen

Sahih International

And We gave them of signs that in which there was a clear trial.

Pickthall

And We gave them portents wherein was a clear trial.

Yusuf Ali

And granted them Signs in which there was a manifest trial

44:34

Transliteration

Inna haola-i layaqooloon

Sahih International

Indeed, these [disbelievers] are saying,

Pickthall

Lo! these, forsooth, are saying:

Yusuf Ali

As to these (Quraish), they say forsooth:

44:35

Transliteration

In hiya illa mawtatuna al-oolawama nahnu bimunshareen

Sahih International

"There is not but our first death, and we will not be resurrected.

Pickthall

There is naught but our first death, and we shall not be raised again.

Yusuf Ali

"There is nothing beyond our first death, and we shall not be raised again.

44:36

Transliteration

Fa/too bi-aba-ina inkuntum sadiqeen

Sahih International

Then bring [back] our forefathers, if you should be truthful."

Pickthall

Bring back our fathers, if ye speak the truth!

Yusuf Ali

"Then bring (back) our forefathers, if what ye say is true!"

44:37

Transliteration

Ahum khayrun am qawmu tubbaAAin wallatheenamin qablihim ahlaknahum innahum kanoo mujrimeen

Sahih International

Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed them, [for] indeed, they were criminals.

Pickthall

Are they better, or the folk of Tubb'a and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty.

Yusuf Ali

What! Are they better than the people of Tubba and those who were before them? We destroyed them because they were guilty of sin.

44:38

Transliteration

Wama khalaqna assamawatiwal-arda wama baynahuma laAAibeen

Sahih International

And We did not create the heavens and earth and that between them in play.

Pickthall

And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, in play.

Yusuf Ali

We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, merely in (idle) sport:

44:39

Transliteration

Ma khalaqnahuma illabilhaqqi walakinna aktharahum layaAAlamoon

Sahih International

We did not create them except in truth, but most of them do not know.

Pickthall

We created them not save with truth; but most of them know not.

Yusuf Ali

We created them not except for just ends: but most of them do not understand.

44:40

Transliteration

Inna yawma alfasli meeqatuhumajmaAAeen

Sahih International

Indeed, the Day of Judgement is the appointed time for them all -

Pickthall

Assuredly the Day of Decision is the term for all of them,

Yusuf Ali

Verily the Day of sorting out is the time appointed for all of them,-

44:41

Transliteration

Yawma la yughnee mawlan AAan mawlanshay-an wala hum yunsaroon

Sahih International

The Day when no relation will avail a relation at all, nor will they be helped -

Pickthall

A day when friend can in naught avail friend, nor can they be helped,

Yusuf Ali

The Day when no protector can avail his client in aught, and no help can they receive,

44:42

Transliteration

Illa man rahima Allahuinnahu huwa alAAazeezu arraheem

Sahih International

Except those [believers] on whom Allah has mercy. Indeed, He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

Pickthall

Save him on whom Allah hath mercy. Lo! He is the Mighty, the Merciful.

Yusuf Ali

Except such as receive Allah's Mercy: for He is Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.

44:43

Inna shajarata azzaqqoom

Sahih International

Indeed, the tree of zaqqum

Pickthall

Lo! the tree of Zaqqum,

Yusuf Ali

Verily the tree of Zaqqum

44:44

Transliteration

TaAAamu al-atheem

Sahih International

Is food for the sinful.

Pickthall

The food of the sinner!

Yusuf Ali

Will be the food of the Sinful,-

44:45

Transliteration

Kalmuhli yaghlee fee albutoon

Sahih International

Like murky oil, it boils within bellies

Pickthall

Like molten brass, it seetheth in their bellies

Yusuf Ali

Like molten brass; it will boil in their insides.

44:46

Kaghalyi alhameem

Sahih International

Like the boiling of scalding water.

Pickthall

As the seething of boiling water.

Yusuf Ali

Like the boiling of scalding water.

44:47

Transliteration

Khuthoohu faAAtiloohu ilasawa-i aljaheem

Sahih International

[It will be commanded], "Seize him and drag him into the midst of the Hellfire,

Pickthall

(And it will be said): Take him and drag him to the midst of hell,

Yusuf Ali

(A voice will cry: "Seize ye him and drag him into the midst of the Blazing Fire!

44:48

Transliteration

Thumma subboo fawqa ra/sihi min AAathabialhameem

Sahih International

Then pour over his head from the torment of scalding water."

Pickthall

Then pour upon his head the torment of boiling water.

Yusuf Ali

"Then pour over his head the Penalty of Boiling Water,

44:49

Transliteration

Thuq innaka anta alAAazeezu alkareem

Sahih International

[It will be said], "Taste! Indeed, you are the honored, the noble!

Pickthall

(Saying): Taste! Lo! thou wast forsooth the mighty, the noble!

Yusuf Ali

"Taste thou (this)! Truly wast thou mighty, full of honour!

44:50

Transliteration

Inna hatha ma kuntum bihitamtaroon

Sahih International

Indeed, this is what you used to dispute."

Lo! this is that whereof ye used to doubt.

Yusuf Ali

"Truly this is what ye used to doubt!"

44:51

Transliteration

Inna almuttaqeena fee maqamin ameen

Sahih International

Indeed, the righteous will be in a secure place;

Pickthall

Lo! those who kept their duty will be in a place secured.

Yusuf Ali

As to the Righteous (they will be) in a position of Security,

44:52

Transliteration

Fee jannatin waAAuyoon

Sahih International

Within gardens and springs,

Pickthall

Amid gardens and watersprings,

Yusuf Ali

Among Gardens and Springs;

44:53

Transliteration

Yalbasoona min sundusin wa-istabraqin mutaqabileen

Sahih International

Wearing [garments of] fine silk and brocade, facing each other.

Pickthall

Attired in silk and silk embroidery, facing one another.

Yusuf Ali

Dressed in fine silk and in rich brocade, they will face each other;

44:54

Transliteration

Kathalika wazawwajnahum bihoorinAAeen

Sahih International

Thus. And We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes.

Pickthall

Even so (it will be). And We shall wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes.

Yusuf Ali

So; and We shall join them to fair women with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes.

44:55

Transliteration

YadAAoona feeha bikulli fakihatinamineen

Sahih International

They will call therein for every [kind of] fruit - safe and secure.

Pickthall

They call therein for every fruit in safety.

Yusuf Ali

There can they call for every kind of fruit in peace and security;

44:56

Transliteration

La yathooqoona feehaalmawta illa almawtata al-oola wawaqahum AAathabaaljaheem

Sahih International

They will not taste death therein except the first death, and He will have protected them from the punishment of Hellfire

Pickthall

They taste not death therein, save the first death. And He hath saved them from the doom of hell,

Yusuf Ali

Nor will they there taste Death, except the first death; and He will preserve them from the Penalty of the Blazing Fire,-

44:57

Transliteration

Fadlan min rabbika thalikahuwa alfawzu alAAatheem

Sahih International

As bounty from your Lord. That is what is the great attainment.

Pickthall

A bounty from thy Lord. That is the supreme triumph.

Yusuf Ali

As a Bounty from thy Lord! that will be the supreme achievement!

44:58

Transliteration

Fa-innama yassarnahu bilisanikalaAAallahum yatathakkaroon

Sahih International

And indeed, We have eased the Qur'an in your tongue that they might be reminded.

Pickthall

And We have made (this Scripture) easy in thy language only that they may heed.

Yusuf Ali

Verily, We have made this (Qur'an) easy, in thy tongue, in order that they may give heed.

44:59

Transliteration

Fartaqib innahum murtaqiboon

Sahih International

So watch, [O Muhammad]; indeed, they are watching [for your end].

Pickthall

Wait then (O Muhammad). Lo! they (too) are waiting.

Yusuf Ali

So wait thou and watch; for they (too) are waiting.

Al-Qur'an 2:28

"How can you disbelieve in Allah when you were lifeless and He brought you to life; then He will cause you to die, then He will bring you [back] to life, and then to Him you will be returned."

Al-Qur'an 3:102

"O ye who believe! Heed Allah as He deserves to be heeded, and die not except in a state of Islam [in submission to Him]."

Al-Qur'an 6:59-60

"And with Him are the keys of the unseen; none knows them except Him. And He knows what is on the land and in the sea. Not a leaf falls but that He knows it. And no grain is there within the darknesses of the earth and no moist or dry [thing] but that it is [written] in a clear record. And it is He who takes your souls by night and knows what you have committed by day. Then He revives you therein that a specified term may be fulfilled. Then to Him will be your return; then He will inform you about what you used to do."

Al-Qur'an 7:172

"And [mention] when your Lord took from the children of Adam - from their loins - their descendants and made them testify of themselves, [saying to them], "Am I not your Lord?" They said, "Yes, we have testified." [This] - lest you should say on the day of Resurrection, "Indeed, we were of this unaware.""

Al-Qur'an 10:31

"Say, "Who provides for you from the heaven and the earth? Or who controls hearing and sight and who brings the living out of the dead and brings the dead out of the living and who arranges [every] matter?" They will say, " Allah ," so say, "Then will you not fear Him?" "

Al-Qur'an 10:34-36

"Say, "Are there of your 'partners' any who begins creation and then repeats it?" Say, " Allah begins creation and then repeats it, so how are you deluded?" Say: "Of your 'partners' is there any that can give any guidance towards truth?" Say: "It is Allah Who gives guidance towards truth, is then He Who gives guidance to truth more worthy to be followed, or he who finds not guidance (himself) unless he is guided? Then what is [wrong] with you - how do you judge?" And most of them follow not except assumption. Indeed, assumption avails not against the truth at all. Indeed, Allah is Knowing of what they do."

Al-Qur'an 10:45

"And on the Day when He will gather them, [it will be] as if they had not remained [in the world] but an hour of the day, [and] they will know each other. Those will have lost who denied the meeting with Allah and were not guided"

Al-Qur'an 15:21-25

"And there is not a thing but that with Us are its depositories, and We do not send it down except according to a known measure. And We have sent the fertilizing winds and sent down water from the sky and given you drink from it. And you are not its retainers. And indeed, it is We who give life and cause death, and We are the Inheritor. And We have already known the preceding [generations] among you, and We have already known the later [ones to come]. And indeed, your Lord will gather them; indeed, He is Wise and Knowing."

Al-Qur'an 16:61

"And if Allah were to impose blame on the people for their wrongdoing, He would not have left upon the earth any creature, but He defers them for a specified term. And when their term has come, they will not remain behind an hour, nor will they precede [it]."

Al-Qur'an 19:66-67

“And man says, ‘When I have died, am I going to be brought forth alive?’ Does man not remember that We created him before, while he was nothing?”

Al-Qur'an 23:12-16

"And certainly did We create man from an extract of clay. Then We placed him as a sperm-drop in a firm lodging. Then We made the sperm-drop into a clinging clot, and We made the clot into a lump [of flesh], and We made [from] the lump, bones, and We covered the bones with flesh; then We developed him into another creation. So blessed is Allah , the best of creators. Then indeed, after that you are to die. Then indeed you, on the Day of Resurrection, will be resurrected.”

Al-Qur'an 23:32

"And We sent among them a messenger from themselves, [saying], "Worship Allah ; you have no deity other than Him; then will you not fear Him?""

Al-Qur'an 23:73-77

"And indeed, you invite them to a straight path. But indeed, those who do not believe in the Hereafter are deviating from the path. And even if We gave them mercy and removed what was upon them of affliction, they would persist in their transgression, wandering blindly. And We had gripped them with suffering [as a warning], but they did not yield to their Lord, nor did they humbly supplicate, [and will continue thus]. Until when We have opened before them a door of severe punishment, immediately they will be therein in despair."

Al-Qur'an 23:78-85

"And it is He who produced for you hearing and vision and hearts; little are you grateful. And it is He who has multiplied you throughout the earth, and to Him you will be gathered. And it is He who gives life and causes death, and His is the alternation of the night and the day. Then will you not reason? Rather, they say like what the former peoples said. They said, "When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected? We have been promised this, we and our forefathers, before; this is not but legends of the former peoples." Say, [O Muhammad], "To whom belongs the earth and whoever is in it, if you should know?" They will say, "To Allah ." Say, "Then will you not remember?"

Al-Qur'an 23:86-92

"Say, "Who is Lord of the seven heavens and Lord of the Great Throne?" They will say, "[They belong] to Allah ." Say, "Then will you not fear Him?" Say, "In whose hand is the realm of all things - and He protects while none can protect against Him - if you should know?" They will say, "[All belongs] to Allah ." Say, "Then how are you deluded?" Rather, We have brought them the truth, and indeed they are liars. Allah has not taken any son, nor has there ever been with Him any deity. [If there had been], then each deity would have taken what it created, and some of them would have sought to overcome others. Exalted is Allah above what they describe [concerning Him]. [He is] Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, so high is He above what they associate [with Him]."

Al-Qur'an 23:99-103

"[For such is the state of the disbelievers], until, when death comes to one of them, he says, "My Lord, send me back. That I might do righteousness in that which I left behind." No! It is only a word he is saying; and behind them is a barrier until the Day they are resurrected. So when the Horn is blown, no relationship will there be among them that Day, nor will they ask about one another. And those whose scales are heavy [with good deeds] - it is they who are the successful.But those whose scales are light - those are the ones who have lost their souls, [being] in Hell, abiding eternally."

Al-Qur'an 23:112-116

"[ Allah ] will say, "How long did you remain on earth in number of years?" They will say, "We remained a day or part of a day; ask those who enumerate." He will say, "You stayed not but a little - if only you had known. Then did you think that We created you uselessly and that to Us you would not be returned?" So exalted is Allah , the Sovereign, the Truth; there is no deity except Him, Lord of the Noble Throne."

Al-Qur'an 40:57

“The creation of the heavens and earth is greater than the creation of mankind, but most of the people do not know.”

"It is He who created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a clinging clot; then He brings you out as a child; then [He develops you] that you reach your [time of] maturity, then [further] that you become elders. “And among His Signs, that you see the earth barren, but when We send down water (rain) to it, it is stirred to life and growth (of vegetations). Verily, He Who gives it life, surely is Able to give life to the dead (on the Day of Resurrection). Indeed He is Able to do all things.”
